The Last Alternative Girls Rock Trio
Tsu shi ma mi re is an all girl trio. The members are Mari (guitar), Yayoi (bass) and Mizue(drums). They are a punk rock group with ska, jazz, surf and funk influences. I personally am not able to translate their lyrics, but they seem to be seemingly nonsensical, but often have an underlying "message". Each of the 3 girls is very good at what they do, they play their instruments very well. In my personal opinion, they are the best girl group out there. Their composition skills are quite good. They are constantly creating songs that are catchy and full of energy. Speaking of energy, the girls are 5x better in person, than in any recording I've ever heard them do.
The group Tsu shi ma mi re was started in 1999. The ladies were in college at the time. They got together and made their first demo "hamburger set" in 2001 after playing in local clubs in Chiba prefecture. Shortly after they made another demo cd called "bloody mohawk". They have toured America extensively (for a Japanese group). They have participated in South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin Texas, they have toured with the suicide girls burlesque tour, they have played at Japan Girls Nite West Coast Tour, they have played at the Japan Nite US tour, and they have played at the Atlanta Anime Convention. Considering their first album (pregnant fantasy) came out in 2004, these ladies have been working hard. Its interesting to note that Tsu shi ma mi re is one of the most popular Japanese bands in America. They have a relatively small fan base in japan. Tsu shi ma mi re came out with their album no miso shortcake (脳みそショートケーキ) on 7-7-07 (lucky, huh?). This comes with their PV for air control and remote control (enhanced cd). For this album the ladies switched labels from Benten to July Records (sorry this is the closest thing I could find to a website for the record label).
This is what Mari (the leader) says the name came from, "The name “Tsushimamire” is actually a combination of our names: The last name of our bass(Yayoi), “Tsushima”, “Ma” from my name “Mari”, and “Mi” from our drums, “Mizue”. “Mamire” also means “mixture/full of/all over"
Mari is from Chiba prefecture(east of Tokyo), she was raised in Chiba city. Mari was born on January the 9th, 1979. She has a blood type of "B"(she says she is a stereotypical type "B" personality). She has always enjoyed singing. Mari is the funniest of the group, even in English she is funny. Mari enjoys playing basketball. Mari also loves drawing, if you see something hand drawn by tsushimamire, its probably mari's drawings. Mari thinks her smile is one of her best features. She really just likes people in general, she is a nice girl.She tries her hardest to be an honest person.She would describe her personality as a carefree and very happy, with a "give it your best shot" outlook on things. Mari is the lyricist for this group. She has penned all the songs so far (I think, at least the vast majority).Mari actually quit the guitar in her teen years, but picked it up again because she wanted to write her own songs in her college club. She is also the main vocalist. She also comments that her english is getting quite good, she usually can explain what her songs mean to her America audience before they sing them. Mari is awesome, she flows in between rapping( my brain is shortcake) and singing (a song for my mother), her voice is super cute and her death vocals are very scary, lol. One of mari's favorite performers is YUKI Mari will have the full bang and the long hair in the picture drawings of her.
Yayoi is from Toyama prefecture(north of Nagano, the site of the 1998 Winter Olympics)Her birthday is on march the 17th(I'm not sure of the year). She is one of the best non jazz bassists I've heard (sorry haven't been in the rock scene that long).Yayoi started playing piano at the age of 5. She started playing bass as a college freshman. She is very talented and on stage is probably the on you'll pay the most attention to. She plays as if her bass strings were laced with opium, she is always in an orgasmic state as she plays, truly a sight to behold. She kicks, jumps, and head bangs with the best of them. While playing complex bass lines at the same time.Yayoi enjoys alcohol, pets, the outdoors, and travel.It would seem that yayoi is the groups treasurer. Yayoi likes the band (ゆらゆら帝国)yura yura teikoku Yayoi will have the swoop bang in the drawings of her.
Mizue is from Tottori prefecture (northeast of Hiroshima, one of the places the atomic bombs were dropped), she lived in Yonago city. Her birthday is April the 18th 1979. Her blood type is "A" (good for compatibility tests) Mizue wanted to be a singer in college, but she said that so many other singers out there were talented, so she chose to drum. She played percussion in her brass band in middle and high school. Mizue has learnt Yasuki-bushi Shamisen and songs and earned the instructor license for both of them. She also can do the dance called the "dojo sukui" perfectly and that means she is a dancer. She was a piano major in college.Mizue appears to be the most computer savvy of the group, she handles most of the online stuff. She blogs regularly also. Mizue would appear to be in charge of handling all the crafts for the group (for example key chains). Mizue doesn't like liver, cheese, rain, and having a job(lol). Mizue loves chocolate, a lot! She is scared she will get chocolate poisoning! She likes sweets , shrimp, skiing, flowers, coffee, the color black, and the color purple (no pun intended).Mizue recommends the movie tamala2010, its about a punk space cat. Mizue also recommends Junko Mizuno. She is a manga-ka that has a very unique style. She also likes Cornelius (コーネリアス) Mizue also makes various things with her favorite "artistic" subject, chinpo-kun. I wonder will she ever use other versions of the chinpo-kun...(wakes up from day dream), sorry about that, back to business! Mizue has the split bang in the drawing of her.
